Coffee Table

“Symbols”

We designed this one of a kind coffee table to be a functional piece of artwork where the deep black of the Black Diamond Richlite would accentuate the vibrant red and white hues of the jasper stones that have been inset into mortises in an “Abstract Expressionism” influenced assemblage of abstracted Native American Symbols to include Mountains, Sun, Rain, Lightning, and Crossing Paths. These symbols were chosen because they represent elements of the sky and earth as well as life’s journey. We chose the two varieties of cedar, the Eastern Red Cedar, which is actually a Juniper, because they were revered by the Native American Cultures for their powerful cleansing and medicinal qualities. We chose one variety from the East and one from the West as a unifying symbol of our country and its people. The use of Richlite and the reclaimed “old stock” jasper mosaic pieces follows LEED Certifications, Green Practices, and Best Practices.
