A Console Table
“Angular Brilliance”
Introduction "Angular Brilliance" The console table has a bold, sculptural design that blends modern art with functionality. The top is a sleek, gloss Richlite Black Diamond rectangular slab, providing a sharp contrast to the base. The base itself is an eye-catching arrangement of geometric blocks in varying metallic finishes—gold, bronze, silver, and copper tones—stacked in an abstract, layered formation. The irregular, angular shapes create a sense of movement and texture, almost like a three-dimensional collage. This makes the table as much a statement piece of art as a functional piece of furniture, perfect for a modern entryway, gallery-style interior, or eclectic living space.
One of a Kind
Philosophy:
We designed this console table to have a greater degree of dynamics then the side cabinet we designed and built entitled “Angular Tension” in both its three and two dimensional surfaces. The four drawers add a sense of surprise to the table because they are hidden amongst the composition of the gilded boxes. The table is of a moderate size for ease of placement in multiple areas within the home or office. From an artistic perspective, we wanted the sides and front of the table to be a single interactive flowing sculptural element. We were initially inspired by the work of Paul Evans and his “City Scape” series, but we wanted to take his work to a new level by emphasizing the interactive complexity between the 3, 4, and 5 sided boxes and the importance of the blacked out negative space between them. We further developed the connectivity amongst these boxes by applying various shades of gold, palladium, platinum, silver, aluminum and variegated imitation gold leaf as well as Tamise. Essentially we were painting with the application of the metal leafs and its further decoration, utilizing various colors and black in a layered fashion similar to the layers of paint that Jackson Pollack, Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning would use in their work.
